'Stratified Jewels' Showing at the ICFF, New York

Originally inspired by the cultural influences of the Turkish matopetra nazar boncugu (commonly referred to as the evil eye) Stratified Jewels are unique glass artworks in which pigmented resins are the pool for several materials, such as gold leaf, broken glass and metallic powders.

London-based glass artist Yorgos Papadopoulos's unique treatment of glass is innovative and highly experimental. His successful commissions range from medium size to large scale works for venues such as corporate headquarters, hotel lobbies, private residences, luxury cruise liners and garden landscapes. Pioneer of a technique he developed at the Royal College of Art, Papadopoulos breaks, colours and textures sheets of industrial glass and then re-laminates them to make architectural scale artworks which appear fragile but are extremely durable.
