Eyes of Endurances

The Eyes of Endurance form a sub-series within Stratified Jewels. These artworks are a reinterpretation of the traditional Middle Eastern amulets once intended to ward off evil. Here, they instead reflect concepts, values, and attitudes that deserve to be advanced through their visualisation. Using cement as a distinctive pigment, the works present endurance not as passive survival, but as an active, watchful state of being—suggesting a consciousness that remains present through pressure, time, and uncertainty. Their restrained monochrome surfaces resist distraction, drawing attention to duration itself: the slow accumulation of experience, the weight of waiting, the dignity of holding form against dissolution. These “eyes” do not seek spectacle; they witness. In their stillness, they propose endurance as a form of inner clarity—an insistence on presence when change is inevitable and meaning is not immediately given.
